Carolina Hilltopper Fall Box Lacrosse
The Top Box Lacrosse League is back for its seventh year! Consistently known as the most fun league we run, Top Box is a modified five-on-five lacrosse game played with hybrid field and box lacrosse rules for both high school and middle school age players.
All games will be played on Tuesday nights November 17th through December 15th with a possible makeup date of December 22nd. This league will have two divisions. The first will be our middle school division for players grades 5th-8th. Meanwhile our high school division is open to players grades 9th-12th. Our middle school sessions will include 15 minutes of skill work and teaching before 45 minutes of games. Each week the middle school division will create even teams for scrimmages at each age group. The middle school division will play from 5:00pm – 6:00pm.
Meanwhile our High School division will play games against different opponents each week. During the last two weeks of the league we will hold tournament play to crown a champion. Meanwhile, High School age teams will play from 6:00pm to 9:15pm. At the high school age group, we have multiple teams available. Registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. Team names rolled over from last year’s top box league.
The address of the sportsplex is 101 Meadowlands Dr, Hillsborough, NC 27278. The cost of fall box lacrosse is $150 for the 5 weeks of play. Everyone who plays will also receive a Top Box jersey for the season. Current Members of our Hilltopper Program can register for a discounted price using the discount code sent in a previous email.
By playing on a smaller field players will be forced to handle the ball more frequently than in a normal game, learn to make quicker decisions and create opportunities in tighter windows. The format of our box lacrosse league is 5v5 lacrosse. Players will need to play a modified version of lacrosse with smaller goals and on a 70 yard by 40 yard field. The game will consist of two running 20 minute halves with a 3 minute half time in between. Take out checks are not allowed in box lacrosse and all penalties will result in a 60 second man up opportunity for the other team.
To maximize play and opportunity on the field, each high school-age team will be composed of no more than 15 players. When possible players of the same schools will be put on the same team. If a team does not have a goalie for a game we will try to replace them with a goalie from the previous team, however, we will also supply goalie gear for the team to pick their own goalie.
