Fall “Top Box” League

Carolina Hilltopper Fall Box Lacrosse

The Top Box Lacrosse league is back for its fourth year! Consistently known as the most fun league we run, Top Box is a modified five on five lacrosse game played with hybrid field and box lacrosse rules.

The Top Box league will begin on Monday, November 13th and continue every Monday until December 11th. Games will be played between 5:00pm-9:00pm on each Monday night. Should there be a weather issue or other need to cancel a session our makeup date will be December 18th.

The address of the sports plex is 101 Meadowlands Dr, Hillsborough, NC 27278. The cost of fall box lacrosse is $150 for the 5 weeks of play. Current Members of our Hilltopper Program can register for a discounted price using the discount code sent in a previous email.

By playing on a smaller field players will be forced to handle the ball more frequently than in a normal game, learn to make quicker decisions and create opportunities in tighter windows. At the same time playing outside in the open air allows players to participate in a fall sport where they can be distanced from one another. Fall Top box will have two divisions, one for High School (12th/11th/10th/9th), and one for Middle School grades (8th, 7th, 6th, 5th).

Upon registration middle school players should sign up for the youth league

High School players can choose from one of the following teams based on where you play in the spring. The team names below correspond with previous teams who have played in our league. Each team is limited to 15 roster spots:

Bengals, Bull Durham, Los Gatos, Orange Crush, Panther Pockets, Rojos Lobos, War Birds, Free Agents.

The format of our box lacrosse league is 5v5 lacrosse. Players will need to play a modified version of lacrosse with smaller goals and on a 70 yard by 40 yard field. The game will consist of two running 20 minute halves with a 3 minute half time in between. Take out checks are not allowed in box lacrosse and all penalties will result in a 60 second man up opportunity for the other team.

To maximize play and opportunity on the field, each high school age team will be composed of no more than 15 players. When possible players of the same schools will be put on the same team. If a team does not have a goalie for a game we will try to replace them with a goalie from the previous team, however, we will also supply goalie gear for the team to pick their own goalie.
