Spring Youth Lacrosse Training & Small Side Games In Orange County
What is Hillsborough Hilltoppers?
This program is designed for youth lacrosse players in Orange County and the surrounding areas to learn the basics of lacrosse and play small side games. Every session will start with 45 minutes of instruction from our Hilltopper coaches followed by 45 minutes of game play on a shortened lacrosse field. In our game play, we will break the boys into small groups and have them play 5v5 and 7v7 games in which the players will touch the ball more frequently than in a full 10v10 lacrosse game.
Where will sessions be held?
All sessions will be held at the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Games and training will take place on the Sportsplex’s outdoor turf athletic field. The Sportsplex is located at 101 Meadowlands Drive, Hillsborough, North Carolina and can be easily accessed from Chapel Hill, Durham and Alamance Counties as well.
Who is Hillsborough Hilltoppers for?
The program is open to any youth lacrosse players grades 3rd through 6th who would like to play lacrosse in the spring. Players of all skill sets will benefit from this fun style of play and learning. Players will almost always have a ball in their stick or be part of the action during our sessions. Our program is designed to fill the void for players who don’t have the ability to play organized lacrosse until later in middle school. In the Orange County area, organized youth lacrosse in school is not open until 7th grade. By participating in our Hillsborough Hilltoppers program our players will have an upper hand on the competition once they are eligible to play at their local middle school.
When does it start?
For our inaugural season, we will hold 5 sessions on Sunday afternoons on March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st of 2019. All sessions will go from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.
What do I need to play?
Players should have all proper lacrosse equipment including a lacrosse helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, stick and gloves. All players will also need a lacrosse stick. In these sessions all players must play with a short lacrosse stick as this forces younger players to learn proper throwing technique and footwork. Players are also encouraged to bring a water bottle and cleats, although tennis shoes will also work on the turf field.
What if I don’t have gear?
Since some of our players are new to lacrosse, we will offer gear rentals for players who need it. In order to obtain gear please email Carolinahilltoppers@gmail.com in order to set up a rental.
